On our front page this week is a notice regarding the “winter rules” mandated by the St. Johns River Water Management District. Beginning Sunday, Nov. 1, you will be limited to one-day-a-week watering.
We don’t have a problem with water conservation and watering only once per week, but it does magnify the absurdity of St. Johns allowing Niagara Water Bottling Company to pump water from our diminishing fresh water supply to ship and sell.
We wonder if homeowners can receive a citation if they water their lawns, say, twice per week, but with Niagara bottled water that they purchased.
Absurd, maybe, but it makes one wonder who we’re conserving for.
